Common Questions About Recipes

Can I make this dish spicier?

Yes, adding extra jalapeño or a pinch of cayenne pepper will increase the heat. A chipotle pepper in adobo adds smoky spice as well.

What beans can I substitute for black beans?

Kidney beans or pinto beans are great alternatives that maintain a similar texture and flavor balance.

How do I know when the sweet potatoes are cooked?

They should be tender when pierced with a fork after simmering 25-30 minutes in the chili.

Can this dish be prepared ahead of time?

Absolutely. It develops more flavor when stored overnight and reheated, making it ideal for meal prep.

What garnishes complement this chili?

Fresh cilantro, sliced avocado, sour cream or Greek yogurt, and lime wedges add freshness and creaminess.
