Air Fryer Mummy Hand Pies (Printable Version)

Golden hand pies with creative mummy wrapping, delicious filling, and a tangy Greek yogurt dip for Halloween fun.

# The Ingredients You'll Need:

→ Pie Dough

01 - 2 sheets refrigerated pie crust (about 16 ounces total)

→ Filling (choose one)

02 - 1/2 cup finely chopped apple pie filling, or fruit jam, or chocolate hazelnut spread
03 - 1/2 cup cooked spinach and cheese mixture, seasoned (for savory variation)

→ Decoration & Assembly

04 - 1 large egg, beaten
05 - 16 candy eyes or small chocolate chips

→ Dip

06 - 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
07 - 1 tablespoon honey (for sweet pies) or 1 tablespoon chopped fresh herbs with a pinch of salt (for savory pies)

# Step-by-Step Instructions:

01 - Set the air fryer to 350°F and allow it to preheat.
02 - On a lightly floured surface, unroll the pie crust dough and cut out 16 rectangles, each approximately 3 by 4 inches.
03 - Arrange 8 rectangles on a parchment-lined tray. Place about 1 tablespoon of the selected filling in the center of each piece.
04 - Slice the remaining 8 rectangles into thin strips to form the mummy-style wrappings.
05 - Drape the dough strips over the filled bases, resembling mummy bandages, and leave space for eyes.
06 - Press the edges together with a fork to seal the pies. Brush the surface with beaten egg for a golden finish.
07 - Place assembled hand pies in the air fryer basket in batches. Cook for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the crust turns golden and crisp.
08 - Allow hand pies to cool slightly. Attach two candy eyes or chocolate chips to each pie using a small amount of yogurt or icing.
09 - Combine Greek yogurt with honey for sweet pies, or with herbs and salt for savory pies. Serve as a dip alongside the hand pies.

# Additional Notes:

01 - Experiment with various fillings such as pumpkin puree, cherry jam, or ham and cheese for different flavor combinations.
02 - For a vegan preparation, replace yogurt and egg with plant-based alternatives and a non-dairy wash.
03 - Hand pies can be assembled in advance and refrigerated until ready to air fry.
