Overnight Oats with Strawberry Jam (Printable Version)

Creamy oats combined with natural strawberry chia jam for a nourishing, make-ahead morning boost.

# The Ingredients You'll Need:

→ Overnight Oats

01 - 1 cup rolled oats, gluten-free if needed
02 - 1 cup milk of choice, dairy or plant-based
03 - 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt or dairy-free yogurt
04 - 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
05 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
06 - Pinch of salt

→ Strawberry Chia Jam

07 - 1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries, hulled and chopped
08 - 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
09 - 1 tablespoon chia seeds
10 - 1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice, optional

→ Toppings

11 - Sliced fresh strawberries
12 - Chopped nuts or seeds, optional

# Step-by-Step Instructions:

01 - Combine strawberries and maple syrup in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally until strawberries soften and begin breaking down, approximately 5 to 7 minutes. Mash with a fork or potato masher to desired consistency. Stir in chia seeds and lemon juice if using. Remove from heat and allow to cool; mixture will thicken as it cools.
02 - In a mixing bowl or jar, combine oats, milk, yogurt, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix thoroughly. Divide oat mixture evenly between two jars or bowls. Top each portion with 2 to 3 tablespoons of cooled strawberry chia jam.
03 - Cover jars or bowls and refrigerate overnight or for at least 4 hours until oats absorb liquid and reach creamy consistency.
04 - In the morning, stir gently if desired to adjust consistency. Top each serving with fresh strawberries and chopped nuts or seeds before serving.

# Additional Tips::

01 -
  • It's waiting for you in the morning, no excuses needed to skip breakfast when it's already made.
  • The strawberry chia jam actually tastes like you made something from scratch, because you did, in about seven minutes.
  • Works beautifully whether you eat dairy or not, and comes together cheaper than grabbing coffee and a pastry.
02 -
  • Don't skip cooling the jam before adding it to the oats, or you'll end up with warm oats that get weird and lose their texture overnight.
  • The oats thicken significantly as they sit, so if you prefer them looser in the morning, add a splash more milk when you're serving.
03 -
  • If your jam turns out too thick, thin it with a teaspoon of water at a time rather than reheating, which can make the strawberries taste mushy.
  • Glass jars with lids work best because you can see what you're eating and they keep everything fresher longer than bowls covered with plastic wrap.
