01 - Arrange bread slices on a work surface and evenly spread one side of each with softened butter using a butter knife.
02 - Place half the bread slices butter-side down. Top each with cheddar cheese slices, a few thin apple slices, and drizzle approximately 1/2 teaspoon caramel sauce over the apples.
03 - Cover with the remaining bread slices, placing them butter-side up, to create closed sandwiches.
04 - Using a small knife or biscuit cutter, slice each sandwich into four bite-sized pieces.
05 - Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium-low heat. Add the sandwich pieces and cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula, until golden and the cheese has melted.
06 - Serve the bites warm. Optionally, drizzle with additional caramel sauce if desired.
