Creamy, vegan banana ice cream made from sliced, frozen ripe bananas for a healthy sweet treat.

# The Ingredients You'll Need:

→ Fruit

01 - 3 large ripe bananas

# Step-by-Step Instructions:

01 - Peel the bananas and slice them into coins about ½ inch thick.
02 - Place the banana slices in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
03 - Freeze the banana slices for at least 2 hours, or until solid.
04 - Transfer the frozen banana slices to a high-speed blender or food processor. Blend on high, stopping to scrape down the sides as needed, until the bananas become creamy and smooth like soft-serve ice cream (about 2–3 minutes).
05 - Serve immediately for a soft-serve texture, or transfer to an airtight container and freeze for 1–2 hours for a firmer scoop.

# Additional Tips::

01 -
  • Uses just one ingredient so there is nothing complicated to shop for
  • Vegan gluten-free dairy-free and nut-free so nearly anyone can enjoy it
  • Ready in under 10 minutes of active time with no fancy equipment
  • My kids asked for this treat day after day one summer so I know it is a real crowd pleaser that often surprises people with how creamy it gets
02 -
  • Completely dairy free and naturally gluten free
  • Perfect for using up those bananas that are too soft for snacking
  • You can add flavor by tossing in cocoa powder, vanilla, or frozen berries
  • My favorite thing about this recipe is how surprised people get when they realize there is no cream or added sugar in it. It instantly takes me back to making this with my toddler who thought magic was involved
03 -
  • Use overripe bananas for the sweetest flavor with no bitterness
  • Pulse on low at first to break up frozen slices, then go high speed to whip in air for that fluffy soft serve texture
  • Always freeze banana slices in a single layer so they do not stick together and turn the blending step into a struggle
