Air-Fryer Tornado Potatoes (Printable Version)

Spiral potatoes air-fried with savory spices, served crispy and finished with fresh herbs or Parmesan.

# The Ingredients You'll Need:

→ Vegetables

01 - 4 medium russet potatoes, scrubbed

→ Seasoning

02 - 2 tablespoons olive oil
03 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder
04 - 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
05 - 1/2 teaspoon salt
06 - 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

→ Optional Toppings

07 - 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
08 - 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
09 - 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes

# Step-by-Step Instructions:

01 - Insert a long wooden or metal skewer lengthwise through the center of each potato.
02 - Holding the skewer, use a sharp knife to slice the potato in a spiral motion, rotating as you cut from end to end. Carefully stretch the potato along the skewer for evenly spaced spirals.
03 - Combine olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl. Brush or rub the mixture evenly over and between the spirals of each potato.
04 - Set the air fryer to 375°F and allow to preheat for 3 minutes.
05 - Place the skewered potatoes in the basket without crowding. Cook for 20 to 25 minutes, turning halfway, until golden and crisp.
06 - Optionally, sprinkle with grated Parmesan, fresh parsley, and chili flakes before serving.

# Additional Tips::

01 -
  • Healthier than deep-fried options thanks to air frying
  • Fun, eye-catching presentation that's perfect for snacking or sharing
02 -
  • Slicing the spirals evenly ensures each potato cooks and crisps perfectly
  • If using Parmesan cheese, these are not vegan but remain gluten-free
03 -
  • Soak potatoes in cold water after slicing for maximum crispiness
  • Experiment with sweet potatoes or different spice blends for variety
